Purpose: The purpose of this study is to confirm the mediating effect of stress coping in the relationship between ruminative response to mistakes and stress response in elite athletes. Method: A total of 261 collected data were analyzed using SPSS 25.0 and SPSS Macro Process 4.1. The analysis method confirmed the significance of the mediation effect through frequency analysis, exploratory factor analysis, descriptive analysis, reliability analysis, correlation analysis, multiple regression analysis, and bootstrapping. Results: The results of this study were as follows. First, in the research model 1, ruminative response had a negative effect on stress coping. In the research Model 2, ruminative response had a positive effect on stress response, and stress coping had a negative effect on stress response. Second, stress coping significantly mediated the relationship between ruminative responses to mistakes and stress responses. Conclusion: In summary, in the relationship between ruminative response and stress response, stress coping is an important factor that can alleviate negative emotions in athletes.
