초록
There has been significant increase in arts education programs in Korea in the past fifteen years. Related legislation and certificating system of art educators has been the critical source of such explosive boost. It has been pronounced at the time of legal provision for the support that its aim for arts education would surpass the constraints of then arts education system, which pose great emphasis on educating artists of technical competency. Hence, the general system of arts education could not but mirror the convention and ethos of technician inclined system in the arts. This study is an exploratory attempt to review and analyze the ongoing arts education program which has been launched with an objective to foster arts education centering on aesthetic experience. The program is designed by artist education director who is an active producer in children’s drama. The newly remodeled center run by the Gyung-gi School District Agency has run a pilot program during the first half semester solely devoting to sensory experience and perception cross cutting the conventional discipline. According to an in depth interview on the teaching artists and the participator survey the program has turned out meaningful results in terms of several construct of John Dewey’s theory on aesthetic experience. However, more is to be discovered in successive years to come.
