This study is an experimental study aimed at examining the effect of choir-centered therapeutic music activities on improving attention span and social skills in adults with mild intellectual disability. The subjects of the study were 30 adults between the ages of 20 and 35 who were diagnosed with mild intellectual disability, of whom 15 were randomly assigned to the experimental group and 15 to the control group. After the pre-test, the experimental group was provided with a therapeutic music activity program consisting of a total of 10 sessions of 50 minutes, once a week, while the control group was not provided with any related intervention. Conners’ attention scale and Wasserman and Plutchik’s social skills scale were used as test tools. The research results are as follows. First, there was a significant change in the experimental group’s pre-attention and post-attention scores, and it also showed a significant difference from the control group. Second, there was a significant change in the experimental group’s social skills pre-score and post-score, and it also showed a significant difference from the control group. These research results confirmed that choir-centered therapeutic music activities are an effective intervention for improving attention concentration and social skills in adults with mild intellectual disability.
