This study aimed to explore the factors influencing dating intentions and dating possibilities among unmarried young men and women. Data from 324 unmarried individuals (175 men and 149 women) in their 20s and 30s residing in Seoul were analyzed. Descriptive statistical analysis and multiple regression analysis were conducted. First, the dating intentions of unmarried young men were higher when their family life satisfaction was greater, when they had dating experience, when they held a more egalitarian attitude toward gender roles, and when they had a more negative attitude toward being unmarried. The dating possibilities of unmarried young men were higher when their subjective socioeconomic status was higher, when they were physically healthier, when they had dating experience, and when they faced fewer interpersonal difficulties. Second, the dating intentions of unmarried young women were higher when their family life satisfaction was greater, when they had dating experience, when they held a more traditional attitude toward gender roles, and when they had a more negative attitude toward being unmarried. The dating possibilities of unmarried young women were higher when they were physically healthier, when their family life satisfaction was greater, when they had dating experience, and when they had a more negative attitude toward being unmarried. While relationship resources and personal value characteristics influenced dating intentions, economic and health resources were also found to play a significant role in determining dating possibilities.
