Various kinds of presentations are becoming available and it is the trend that the roles of colorful picture books are growing more and more with the development of printing technologies. Creators of the many picture books are trying to convey the meaning of the pictures by various ways in accordance with this trend. Pictures influence significantly children for developing knowledge and sense and the impact of the colors for children's development is extensive because the sense of color is developed first more than that of formation. Colors in picture books should be carefully chosen to develop children's intellectual and emotional development and also they should play an important role in communication between creators and children. The roles of conveying meanings that colors have is researched by analyzing conveying meaning psychologically according to visual power and symbol that colors have on the picture books and intension of the creators in the picture books. The goal of this study is to help understand the ways to present visual colors in the expanding areas of picture books and to provide systematic information about describing colors by using the media for picture books for communicating with children. The story development by using describing colors and conveying symbolic and mental meanings for empathy were studied through the analysis of children's picture book stories. The important media could be expected for children's cognitive and emotional development by understanding the various impact of the roles conveying meanings in the colorful books and providing data to develop colors through this study.
