초록
This study differs from the mainstream pathological approach in that it focused on aspects of growth after trauma among North Korean adolescent refugees. This study aims to examine traumatic event experiences and Post-traumatic Growth(PTG) of North Korean adolescent refugees. This study was conducted with a random population cluster sample of 202 North Korean adolescents. A latent profile analysis was used to identify the subgroups of PTG and multinomial logistic regression was used to verify the effects of variables on determining PTG latent profiles. The crucial findings are as follows. Post-traumatic growth was classified into three different types by a latent profile analysis: ‘high-growth type(34.2%)’, ‘middle-growth type (55.6%),’ and ‘low-growth type(10.2%).’ Through comparing the high-growth type with the others, it was found that peer attachment, social support, emotional support services, and medical services were crucial factors to predict the growth. That is, it implies that intensive intervention as needed should be implemented to enhance growth after trauma. Meanwhile, ‘self-efficacy’ and ‘teacher attachment’ in a low-growth type group, which were additionally found as determinants, could lead the growth through additional interventions along with the previously known common approach. Based on major results, policy and practice implications for the growth of North Korean adolescent refugees, and limitations of this study are discussed.
