This paper is the result of examining how food is implemented in Confucianism and Taoism, and estimating the principle of shaping food that has been most effective for the achievement of the two ideologies. Confucianism uses food to convey the message to be delivered more effectively. Food in Confucianism is a means to universalize the ethical and moral ideology that the community should pursue. In this process, it is found that Confucian food is 'symbolized' through historical events. Meanwhile, Taoism uses food as a tool to realize individual desires. Food in Taoism is a means of blessing to overcome human anxiety in reality, specifically life-threatening diseases, etc. The principles underlying Taoist food are closely related to the two principles of sorcery, 'adjacent' and 'similarity'. Taoism's food is closely related to the properties of the food itself, showing a certain meaning. The results of inferring the shape of food through the properties of food seen in Confucianism and Taoism are as follows. Food in Confucianism is used as a means of realizing social values on a realistic basis. At this time, the principle of symbols works to effectively present the message of ideology. In addition, food in Taoism is used as a means of realizing the personal desire of eternal life on a surreal basis. To materialize this, it can be summarized that the principle of sorcery using contact and similar methods works. Food is an entity that has an important meaning in the relationship between humans and humans, and humans and God. Therefore, the notion that humans harmonize with the spirit of the universe, human nature, and social order has been internalized into food. For this reason, food could be useful when explaining a somewhat ambiguous and abstract system of thought.
