초록

The purpose of the present study is to perform introductory exploration of the meanings and possibilities of the establishment and application of integrated museum resource database through the analysis of a specific example. Despite the diversification of the museum resources, many of the databases or information disclosure systems for accumulating and managing the information about the resources are still focused on their collections. Therefore, discussions are necessary about how to establish, connect and apply integrated databases of the various types of museum resources to open to and share with the society. The example analyzed in this article was the Seoul Museum of Craft Art that has established and applied an integrate database regarding not only the collections but also the archival records, publications, intangible knowledge resources and museum activity information. The case analysis showed that the establishment of an integrated museum resource database can extend the scope of museum resources and increase their value and applicability. An integrated database enables the data administrator to establish, maintain and apply the data efficiently. In addition, the database allows the data users to approach the associated resources in a comprehensive manner, providing them with the opportunities to personally utilize and enjoy the data to the fullest extent. Therefore, the establishment and utilization of an integrated museum resource database are significant from the viewpoint of arts management.
