초록

The purpose of this research was to examine the ethical decision-making experiences among experienced play therapists who have encountered ethical dilemmas. Interviews were conducted with 13 experienced play therapists and analyzed using the Consensual Qualitative Research method(CQR). The analysis resulted in 6 domains, 22 categories, and 9 subcategories. Our results indicate that participants had experienced four situations in which ethical conflicts were experienced (e.g. non-sexual dual relationships and therapeutic boundary confusion’, ‘professional responsibility and competence’, ‘legal responsibilities’, and ‘confidentiality.). The study’s results confirmed the factors considered and obstacles encountered by experienced play therapists in their ethical decision-making processes, and identified the subjects discussed during these processes. In addition, the examination of therapists’ reflections on ethical decision-making conducted here can serve as a useful means for broadening ours insights into their experiences. Based on the results of this study, a number of possible strategies to support the ethical decision-making of play therapists and implications for their ethical education were also presented.
