초록
This research aims to explore what kinds of experiential meanings the general high school’s career focused curriculum provides for high school students. In doing so, it intentionally selected research participants from general high schools located in the Metropolitan area, and analyzed data collected through observation and interviews. This research finds that this college-preparation-heavy curriculum enhances students’ experiences on college-related activities, information sharing, course selections relevant to college major whereas it intensifies competition among students, causes closed relationship building during the two-year consecutive curriculum and less flexibility of career change. These results reveal that we need to consider students’ characteristics when revising future focusing curriculum on students’ choice-centered curriculum. Furthermore, there should be further research on college-preparation-oriented curriculum management which can realize the fundamental meaning of career education in the fast changing society.
