초록
The purpose of this study is to prepare basic data for discussions on ways to improve convergence majors, which have recently gained attention as a strategy for cultivating future competencies, by analyzing their current status at the national level. Co-classification network analysis was conducted using data from the “University Education Unit Survey” over the past three years (2022–2024), focusing on 159 majors recognized as convergence majors by the Korea Council for University Education. The results revealed that convergence among majors in Korean universities was mainly centered around the engineering discipline, while relatively frequent convergence was also observed with the humanities and social sciences. When examined by specific academic field, convergence structures centered around computer-related fields such as computer science, software engineering, and artificial intelligence within the engineering discipline were most frequently identified. In these cases, convergence often occurred with visual arts and business administration. Over time, the network of convergence majors has expanded into a wider range of disciplines, including biotechnology and biomedical engineering. This study is meaningful in that it empirically confirmed the status of convergence majors in Korean universities, focusing on the connection structure among academic fields at the national level.
