It has become an essential element for companies in modern society to fulfill corporate social responsibilities in line with their social influence, and there is widespread consensus that companies striving for sustainability generate corporate profits for the long term. The significance of ESG management and relevant performances has been highlighted than ever before in corporate evaluations, with most multinational, public and private companies being subject to ESG assessment by third-party reports and criteria. The COVID-19 pandemic has sustained the eco-friendly trends across the world, resulting in the highlight of ESG-based management as a key factor for social value creation and sustainable management not only at conglomerates but also at SMEs in Korea. Blackyak is a representative company that resolves environmental problems through leading ESG environment management. This research is meaningful given that Blackyak has provided a solution to retrieve and recycle used plastics by building collaborative governance between private companies, local autonomous entities and the Government, and it has offered a new approach to ESG management by analyzing management cases in which recycled polyester yarns made in Korea were utilized for development of new products.
