초록

Koryŏ dynasty’s southward conquest during Later Three Kingdoms Period was carried out through three directions, which was Kyŏngsang Province direction, Ch’ungchŏng Province direction and Southwestern Coast direction. It was Kyŏngsang Province direction where regional conflict between Koryŏ and Later Paekche was most severe. Several important campaigns carried out in this province were significant enough to change the whole situation of the war between Koryŏ and Later Paekche. On the other hand, Conflict between Koryŏ and Later Paekche in Ch’ungchŏng Province direction can be understood as repeated battles focusing on occupation of local strategic bases such as Ch’ŏngju, Wungju and Unju in Ch’ungchŏng Province. Lastly, Koryŏ’s invasion into Southwestern coast direction aimed to support territorial advance into the former two directions by occupying the rear area of LaterPaekche. Finally Koryŏ was able to accomplish the unification of Later Three Kingdoms by steering Kochang battle in Kyŏngsang Province to victory in the year of 931 and strengthening the invasion into Ch’ungchŏng Province afterKochang battle.
