The purposes of this article are to investigate the exchange activities related to Korea-Japan Cooperation in Korean economy-related institutions and the effects of political events on those activities, and to draw some implications for the enhancement of Korea-Japan cooperation. With these purposes, it investigated Korea-Japan exchange activities in 103 institutions which belong to economy-related organizations, industry associations, SME-related institutions, or national industry-development agencies. In result, it found that there had been no exchange activity in more than half of the investigated institutions, that institutions which belonged to economyrelated organizations and industry associations were the main players for the exchange activities, that workshop/forum/seminar/other was the main type of exchange activities, that lots of exchange activities had been made in traditional industries, and that political events had effect not on non-regular exchange activities but on regular exchange activities. According to these findings, this paper drew policy implications such as the importance of friendly political relationship between Korea and Japan, the necessity of utilizing representative economy-related organizations, industry associations, SME-related institutions, and national industry-development agencies for the enhancement of Korea-Japan cooperation, and the effectiveness of choosing cooperation activity types based on an evolutionary perspective. In addition, it suggested a managerial implication that firms had better utilize economy-related institutions when they look for Japanese business partners. In the final section, it pointed its limitations in research method and sample selection process, and discussed future research topics such as a research with more samples, an intensive analysis on a specific institution type, a case study on a specific institution based on an evolutionary perspective, and a study based on statistical analyses.
