As there are growing needs for health and beauty, a slim body shape is viewed as an ideal somatotype. The purpose of this study was to examine the state of obesity management and satisfaction level among women in their 20s to 50s and up and residing in Seoul and Gyeonggi Province by conducting a survey in an attempt to provide accurate information on obesity management and obesity management methods. Concerning the women's awareness of their own obesity, many considered themselves neither obese nor slim. As to the self- perceived obese part of the body, the biggest group found themselves to be obese in every part of the body. 60.5 percent had experience of obesity management, and the biggest change brought by obesity management was having more confidence about appearance. When the state of obesity management was analyzed, exercise therapy was most utilized(33.7%), followed by diet therapy(31.6%), use of obesity management clinics(23.8%) and self-care(10.7%). They considered it necessary to add exercise therapy to what they currently did for the purpose of obesity management. In regard to satisfaction level with obesity management, many answered they were more satisfied when exercise therapy and another therapy were both utilized. 45.9 percent answered diet therapy was effective. Obesity management clinics were also considered effective, and 47.0 percent wanted to receive massage service in the future. As to the effect of self-care, 15.5 percent answered it was effective. Whether they had an intention to take care of obesity or used any related services was analyzed, and 73.6 percent replied they did. Thus, the women were highly concerned about obesity, but their obesity management was done just on a short-term basis.
