This case study is about competency-based curriculum which has become a major educational goal of higher education while the industry presents to universities the educational demand for fostering talented people suitable for the industry. University A, located in Seoul, has reorganized its educational goals by setting the competencies for each subject for the operation of the initial competency-based curriculum in the direction of competency-based education and encouraging individual instructors to make their own efforts to strengthen their competencies. Accordingly the curriculum in the liberal arts curriculum and the educational method have been implemented in a competency-enhancing type and have been operating for the past four years. This study aims to examine the limitations and achievements of curriculum operation and the reorganization of the liberal arts curriculum which is the basic and common education of universities rather than individual major curriculum and the basis for various demands. This will serve as an opportunity for many universities that want to design and operate competency-based curriculum to get ideas and have joint discussions.
