대학생이 지각한 부모의 심리적 통제와 우울 증상의 관계에서 공적 자의식과 부정적 평가에 대한 두려움의 순차적 매개효과

초록

The present study aimed to examine the sequential mediating effects of public self-consciousness and fear of negative evaluation on the relationship between university students’ perceived parental psychological control and depressive symptoms. Data were collected from 250 undergraduate students who were either enrolled in or on leave from universities in South Korea. Correlation analyses and sequential mediation analyses were conducted using SPSS 28.0 and the PROCESS macro (Model 6). The results indicated that parental psychological control was positively correlated with public self-consciousness, fear of negative evaluation, and depressive symptoms. Furthermore, significant sequential mediating effects were found in which both paternal and maternal psychological control influenced depressive symptoms through public self-consciousness and fear of negative evaluation. In addition, the simple mediating effect of fear of negative evaluation in the relationship between parental psychological control and depressive symptoms was significant, whereas the mediating effect of public self-consciousness alone was not. This study is significant in that it elucidates the sequential mediating roles of public self-consciousness and fear of negative evaluation in the association between university students’ perceived parental psychological control and depressive symptoms. The findings highlight the importance of integrative interventions that address both public self-consciousness and fear of negative evaluation when working with university students who have experienced parental psychological control.
