초록

Myths and art represent cultural realms that address the emotional aspects of human life, and the most significant muses of these realms have often been flowers and women. Flowers are frequently likened to women, and women to flowers, fostering an inseparable relationship between the two. In everyday life, activities related to flowers are predominantly centered around women. Biologically, both flowers and women play essential roles in reproduction and the continuity of their respective species. Even today, many motifs in culture and art derive inspiration from flowers and women, likely due to their aesthetic and symbolic value. This study focuses on the significance and mutual symbolism of flowers and women, which have served as central motifs in myths and art, as analogous symbolic systems. This study aims to find out the meaning of flowers and women as artistic subjects by examining the meaning related to flowers and women and their mutual symbolism, focusing on myths and art. The scope of this research covers the contextual connections between the symbolic representations of flowers and women in myths and art, where meaningful interpretations can be drawn. The research methodology begins by examining the reciprocal symbolic systems of myths and art to establish interpretive grounds. It then analyzes the symbolic meanings associated with flowers and women in these domains. Based on this foundation, the study proposes a representational interpretive perspective rooted in the symbolism of flowers and women and discusses their artistic value and status. The findings of the study follows, first, flowers and women, through their socio-cultural co-evolution, have served as rich sources of symbolic meaning, and their symbolism can be recognized as a universal system within floral culture. Second, the ultimate realization of artistic expression involves a stage of transcendence where life and spirit are unified through inner reflection, acceptance, and the reconfiguration of meaning, achieving a universal harmony of existence. Third, Mythological symbolism extends beyond religion and art, serving as the ultimate foundation of life, and the internalization of certain myths can be the basis for setting the goals of life. It is hoped that the results of this study will inspire new perspectives on flowers and women and serve as a foundational contribution to the study of floral aesthetics.
