This study aims to develop design concepts for smart wearable products utilizing stretchable display technology. Stretchable displays are gaining attention as an advanced display technology suitable for wearable devices due to their extensibility, recoverability, and flexibility, which allow them to respond organically to human body movements. This study analyzes the characteristics of various body parts and the physical properties of stretchable displays, and explores potential applications by categorizing fashion domains into aesthetic and functional aspects. Based on these analytical results, the design concept development was undertaken through a four-stage framework. In the first stage, concept ideas were derived through ideation sketches. In the second stage, the hardware structure was defined along with the creation of soft mock-ups. In the third stage, design refinement was conducted focusing on wearability, usability, and aesthetic appearance, based on expert consultation. Finally, in the fourth stage, six final design concepts were selected and developed into concrete outcomes including GUI design, product use scenarios, and digital 3D mock-up animations. By applying a user experience-based design methodology rather than a solely technology-driven approach, this study demonstrates the practical potential of stretchable displays for commercialization and offers foundational insights for future development in smart wearable design.
