Sex differences in cognitive abilities could potentially also relate to reported sex differences in the achievement reading. Males and females are not different in terms of general intellectual(g) ability but differences cab be evident within various broad and narrow abilities. The Cattell-Horn- Carroll(CHC) theory of cognitive abilities provides a substantive basis for investigating the relationship between various aspects of cognitive abilities and potential sex differences. The CHC abilities are measured seven cognitive ability(Gc, Glr, Gv, Ga, Gf, Gs, Gsm). The measures of CHC had high reliability and good validity-exploratory, confirmatiory factor analysis. The purpose of this study was to compare the CHC cognitive abilities related in text comprehention of females and males in 414 participants. The results indicated that no sex difference was observed in overall estimates of general intellectual ability. As broad cognitive abilities, males scored significantly lower on estimates of Gc , Gs(processing speed), Ga. males scored significantly higher on estimates of Gv. In the textt comprehension, Ga, Gf accounts for 46% in males and Gc, Gs, Gsm accounts for 38% in females. The educational implications of these findings are discussed with an with an emphasis on the 4,5,6 grade elementary school.
