The purpose of this study is to diagnose the current state of modern language conversion of Donghak literature and to find necessary alternatives. The modernization of Donghak is almost the only way the core values of Donghak can reach the general public. Among them, the modern language conversion of Donghak literature is essential. As a research method for this, literature research, digital data in various fields, statistics, and some media reports were used. The contents of this study are, first, about the current status of translation of major religious documents active in Korea. These include modern language translations of Catholic, Buddhist, and Islamic and some ethnic religious texts. Second, it is about the modernization status of Donghak literature language. Here, it is necessary to check the differences between the translations of literature provided by the Chondogyo denomination and the translation results presented by individual researchers. As a result of this study, first, it was confirmed that the work of translating Donghak literature into modern languages is neither continuous nor organized compared to the translation status of global religious literature. Second, nevertheless, various modernization studies at the individual level are encouraging. Although not the entire literature, it may be possible to share the core values of Donghak with the public through a modern interpretation of the main concepts of Donghak.
