Purpose: The purpose of this study is to recognize the importance of dance education and explore the k-pop dance education class in elementary schools based on the background of introducing street dance in the expression activity of 2022 dance education course for 5th and 6th graders. Methods: The program is unlike conventional dance classes at school that use K-pop music as a teaching medium. It is particularly significant in that it uses K-pop motifs inspired by fairy tales, and it offers a more comprehensive form of dance art education with storytelling elements focused on the lyrics of K-pop songs, the analysis of dance movements, and the production as well as application of small items created based on characters from fairy tales. Result: The expected goal of this research is to independently explore movements that fit K-pop lyrics based on the lessons of the moral of a fairy tale, to cultivate creativity in expression, have a positive impact on improving the knowledge and understanding of dance, and help promote students’ social skills among their peers. Conclusion: This study also aims to suggest the method of moving toward the desirable educational practice by sharing the same context with an idea of self-directed, creative, educated, and embracing person pursued by the elementary and middle school curriculum notified by Ministry of Education in 2022.
