This study classified counselors into clusters according to dysfunctional perfectionism and psychological capital, and examined differences in psychological burnout across the identified groups. Data were collected from 273 counselors currently engaged in practice, and analyzed the harvested data using SPSS 28.0. The results were as follows. First, significant correlations were found among dysfunctional perfectionism, psychological capital, and psychological burnout. Second, differences in psychological burnout were observed according to differing levels of experience amongst the councelors. Third, cluster analysis based on dysfunctional perfectionism and psychological capital identified four distinct groups. Fourth, significant differences were found in overall psychological burnout and its subfactors across the clusters. In particular, novice counselors with higher psychological capital reported lower levels of burnout, whereas this pattern was less pronounced among experienced counselors. The findings highlight the significance of considering both dysfunctional perfectionism and psychological capital in classifying counselors by career stage, thereby expanding the understanding of psychological burnout in the counseling profession.
