A Hybrid Curriculum Model for Generative AI–Based 3D Motion Graphics: Curriculum Redesign Based on Analysis of Learners’ Utilization Strategies

In response to the rapid expansion of generative artificial intelligence (AI), this study proposes a hybrid curriculum model to address structural shifts in motion graphics education. AI is reconceptualized not merely as a tool, but as a creative collaborative mediator, and a practice-oriented educational framework is developed accordingly. A case study was conducted in a 3D motion graphics course, using survey data and open- coding-based qualitative analysis to examine learners’ adoption and utilization of generative AI tools from the perspective of creative agency. The findings reveal that while students experienced increased production efficiency, they also faced challenges such as uncertainty in prompt control and maintaining visual consistency. Learners responded by strategically integrating conventional production tools with AI systems. Based on these findings, this study proposes a 15-week hybrid curriculum model and a generative AI self-checklist, offering practical guidelines for fostering AI literacy in contemporary design education.
