초록
This study aims to suggest a more systematic study approach to improving the tourism environment in tourist destinations than previous ones. The term of ‘tourism preparedness’ in Korean should be replaced with ‘basic tourism environment’ since the former has a kind of psychological nuance and inappropriate to designate basic tourism elements. To make tourists satisfy the elements of basic tourism environment is as important as to do so the tourism attractions. Many evidences suggesting the importance of the basic tourism environment for tourists revisit intention were discussed. However, their ad hoc approaches in defining and evaluating the basic tourism environment in destinations are not so sophisticated that the results can have marginal meanings for policy applications. To improve the research approach for a behavioral survey of inbound tourists, this study systematically categorizes the basic tourism environment into spatial, esthetic, and temporal elements and suggests a detailed checklist for them.
