전문직 가면 증후군 경험에 관한 질적 메타 합성 연구

초록

This study aimed to provide an integrated understanding of the psychological structure underlying the impostor phenomenon among professionals. Using a seven-step qualitative meta-synthesis, 19 qualitative studies were analyzed. The findings identified four overarching themes: identity incongruence, distorted attribution, fear of evaluation and exposure, and self-withdrawal based on social comparison. These results suggest that the impostor phenomenon extends beyond misperception of ability or low self-evaluation, representing a multidimensional experience involving cognitive, psychological, behavioral, and social processes related to professional identity formation, belonging internalization, role performance, and adaptation. Accordingly, understanding and addressing the impostor phenomenon requires an integrative approach that considers both individual and contextual factors, including organizational and social environments.
