Research Trends in Depression Within the Family Context: A keyword network and CONCOR cluster analysis

초록

Objectives: This study examined the knowledge structure and thematic trends of Korean depression research within the family context using keyword network analysis Methods: A total of 612 articles published in KCI-indexed journals between 2014 and 2025 were analyzed. Articles were selected when both “family” and “depression” appeared in at least two of the following sections: title, abstract, and keywords. After keyword refinement, frequency, co-occurrence, centrality, and CONCOR cluster analyses were conducted. Results: Excluding “depression,” the most frequent keywords were caregiver, social support, older adults, self-esteem, family support, and care burden. Major co-occurrence pairs included social support/depression, caregiver/depression, self-esteem/depression, and family support/depression. Depression showed the highest degree, closeness, and betweenness centrality, indicating its role as the structural hub of the network. CONCOR analysis identified six thematic clusters: depression-centered core; caregiving burden and family roles; social stress and family conflict; cultural stress; social exclusion; and family relationships and adaptive resources. Conclusion: Family-related depression research in Korea reflects a multidimensional knowledge structure shaped by caregiving burden, relational conflict, sociocultural stressors, and protective resources. The findings provide a comprehensive overview of research trends and offer directions for future family-focused depression studies.
