The purpose of this research is to identify perception types on the value of children for elementary school and middle & high school parents applying Q Methodology. Q sorting was conducted from August 23 to September 11, 2019. According to the perception types on the value of children for elementary school parents, Type1(Child’s independence-orientation) expects children to be independent and proactive. Type 2(Empathy with the joy of growth) maintains positive relationship with children and recognize chilren as being that gives life and vitality. Type3(Pursuing children’s growth integrating with children) expects the growth of children unifying children with parents. For middle & high school parents, Type1(Positive expectation for growth) satisfies with their children’s status quo and expects them to grow up as healthy personalities. Type 2(Tolerating and subliming complaints) dissatisfies with their children, but expects them to become responsible member of society. Type3(Internalizing parental hopes to children) hopes for success of children by internalizing parent’s own hopes in their children. This study can be used as a data for parenting programs related to value of children as well as a policy data for improving parent-child relationship.
