Sodaesong-jeon is an early and actively circulated Korean classic novel, and the number of version is quite large. However, the practice of recognizing Jeonju edition 43-leaf version as a representative work continued in research and education, without thoroughly understanding and searching for version in advance researches. In this paper, we carefully compared four types of jeonju edition Sodaesong-jeon, including jeonju edition 40-leaf version and 34-leaf version, which have not been properly reviewed, As a result, we estimated that a pre-existing copy of the 40-leaf version and 34-leaf version existed. In the process of abbreviating this common Mobon, 40-leaf version and 34-leaf version appeared. 36-leaf version appeared in the duplication and remake of the 34-leaf version, and 40-leaf version created referring to both 34 and 36-leaf versions. The following facts can be found through comparison of jeonju edition Sodaesong- jeon. The 43-leaf version, currently recognized as a representative work, cannot take the position of Seonbon among the Jeonju editions. The process of transforming from a 34-leaf version through a 36-leaf version to a 43-leaf version should be recognized. Only by actively utilizing the 40-leaf version can a correct understanding of the Jeonju edition Sodaeseong-jeon be reached. Therefore, if we look only at jeonju edition Sodaeseong-jeon, I thought we need integrated text of jeonju edition for now. However, if the scope is extended to the entire Sodaesong-jeon, Jeonju edition is likely to fail to play the role of Seonbon, because it creates integrated text due to its basic nature as woodblock print. Therefore, in future Sodaeseong-jeon studies, it is necessary to identify the original version among many manuscripts.
