This research investigates the possibilities and directions of cultural and artistic education as an academic discipline. Methodologically, it was advanced through a literature review method (Strauss & Corbin, 1998) on "qualitative thinking" in John Dewey's empirical philosophy and Maxine Greene's "imagination" that developed it. The reason is that the important philosophical point of culture and arts education is considered to be a philosophical provision and a major theory that will provide an academic foundation for “convergence, reason-emotion integration.” Through this, this study suggests important research tasks to be dealt with in culture and arts education. The background of this research has reached the modern society, and the importance of human emotions and emotions has increased. "Culture and Arts Education" has been attracting attention, while culture and art education has "Culture", "Art" and "Education" or “Culture Education”, “Art Education” etc., each of which has achieved academic development in an independent area, and the development in each academic area in this way is a fusion of 'Culture and Art Education'. It is difficult to build an appropriate fusion concept and system for studying in academic discipline. For this reason, there are several difficulties in academic research. According to the above-mentioned problem awareness, the research result through qualitative thinking and imagination concept examination as exploratory research is a research study on the educational function and artistic function of culture and arts education as social imagination suggestions must be made. Finally, the limitations of the study and future suggestions are presented.
