초록

This study was designed to explore examine differences in working alliances based on counselor clusters. Counselors were grouped by experience and clustered by state anxiety and emotional clarity. Data from 264 counselors were analyzed using SPSS 27.0. First, significant correlations were found among state anxiety, emotional clarity, and the working alliance. Second, working alliance levels differed by counselor experience. Third, cluster analysis based on state anxiety and emotional clarity identified four clusters for novice and four for experienced counselors. Fourth, differences in the working alliance and its subcomponents were found across the clusters; in the novice group, clusters with relatively higher state anxiety showed lower efficacy of the working alliance, while in the experienced group, clusters with relatively lower clarity of emotional awareness showed lower working alliance efficacy. This study highlights how emotional (state anxiety) and cognitive (emotional clarity) traits interact to influence the working alliance. The results offer useful insights for counselor education and training.
