전공자율선택제 정책 시행에 따른 탐색적 접근

초록

This study examines changes in the higher education environment following the implementation of the Open Major Choice Policy and explores the educational characteristics and implications emerging from its operation, based on case analyses of Korean universities, expert focus group interviews, and a survey of university students who had experienced the policy. The findings show that the Open Major Choice Policy is not limited to delaying or broadening the timing of major choice, but is also associated with changes in students' learning pathways and the overall structure of university curricula. In particular, liberal arts education was found to serve as an important foundation for developing basic academic competencies and supporting students' exploration of academic fields before choosing a major. By empirically examining the influence of the Open Major Choice Policy on university education structures and students' major exploration experiences, this study highlights the importance of balancing major exploration support systems with curricular structures and offers implications for future policy implementation and curriculum design.
