초록

The purpose of this study was to verify the mediating effect of ego-identity and ambivalence over emotional expressiveness, and the moderating effect of age groups in the effect of gender role conflict on mid-life crisis among middle-aged men. To this end, this study implemented a survey involving 970 mid-aged men aged 40 to 59 living in Seoul and Gyeonggi-do and the data of 901 participants, excluding 69 copies of the data that responded insincerely. Then the corresponding data was analyzed through the structural equation model analysis method. The results of the analysis were as follows. First, it was found that the research model for this study showed relatively high conformance. Second, the partial mediating effect of ego-identity and ambivalence over emotional expressiveness was significant in the relationship between gender role conflict and mid-life crisis. Third, the moderating effect of different age groups was significant in the paths of gender role conflict and ego-identity on mid-life crisis. On the basis of these results, it will be to understand the special charateristics of korean mid-aged men and to find new ways of intervention in their counseling or education. Lastly, limitations of the study and suggestions for subsequent studies were discussed.
