초록

This study examined how maternal parenting stress influences children’s smart device overdependence through the sequential mediation of mothers’ phubbing and children’s executive function. The participants were 277 mothers of preschool children. The measures used included included the Maternal Parenting Stress Scale, Mother’s Phubbing Scale, Children’s Executive Function Scale, and the Children’s Smart Device Overdependence Scale. Data were analyzed with SPSS 28.0 for correlations and Hayes’ PROCESS macro v4.3.1 was used for sequential mediation. Results indicated that higher parenting stress was associated with increased maternal phubbing and greater child smart device overdependence, whereas it was negatively associated with children’s executive function. Maternal phubbing also showed a negative association with executive function. Sequential mediation analysis confirmed that parenting stress indirectly heightened children’s smart device overdependence by increasing maternal phubbing and reducing executive function. These findings emphasize the role of parental factors, such as Maternal Parenting Stress and phubbing, and individual factors, such as children’s executive function, in addressing children’s smart device overdependence.
