This study employs bibliometric analysis and Gephi-based network visualization methods to examine the productivity distribution and collaborative structure of 378 articles published in the Journal of Korean Continuing Education and HRD between the first quarter of 2005 and the fourth quarter of 2024. As the necessity for interdisciplinary convergence research to address complex social problems of lifelong education and HRD increases, understanding the structural characteristics of the research ecosystem has emerged as a key task for academic development. The comprehensive analysis utilized multiple analytical techniques, including policy-based time series analysis based on government administration periods, productivity distribution analysis applying Lotka's Law, Excel-based frequency analysis, and collaborative network visualization using Gephi. The results reveal that 87% of first authors published only one paper, confirming a typical asymmetric structure where most authors contributed only once. At the same time, a small number of researchers intensively produced multiple papers. The collaborative network confirmed through Gephi visualization is concentrated around specific institutions, and inter-institutional collaboration was limited, with a collaboration rate of only 24.2%. Research topics expanded from early lifelong education-centered approaches (48.6% in Period 1) to recent convergence fields (60.6% in Period 5), showing multidisciplinary convergence trends. These findings indicate that the lifelong education and HRD research ecosystem is formed around certain groups, suggesting the need for more multidisciplinary and practice-based collaboration. This study empirically presented the structural imbalances of convergence research and proposes to explore the diversity and sustainability of HRD research networks in the future.
