초록
This study explores envy as a major cause of negative therapeutic reactions in psychoanalytic treatment and discusses therapeutic interventions to address it effectively. Negative therapeutic reactions refer to instances where clients project their deficiencies and aggression onto the therapist and envy the therapist, thereby hindering the progress of therapy. This study comprehensively examines the developmental background and aggressive characteristics of envy, as well as its various manifestations within the therapeutic relationship. Key therapeutic strategies include the therapist’s sensitive recognition of the client’s envy and aggression, thorough analysis of transference- countertransference dynamics, and the ability to contain and appropriately interpret the client’s envy to help them confront and integrate their emotions. Envy is highlighted not merely as a barrier to therapy but as closely linked to clients’ self-destructive behaviors, making it a critical focus of therapeutic work. This study specifies the reflective capacity and intervention strategies required of therapists when addressing clients’ envy and provides directions for future research and practice.
