초록

This study aimed to classify supervisees into clusters based on their perceived supervisor authenticity and supervisees’ insecure attachment strategies, and to examine differences in the supervisory working alliance across cluster types. Data were collected from 273 psychological counselors who were receiving supervision while working in counseling settings, and analyzed using SPSS 28.0. The results showed, first, significant correlations across the study variables. Second, cluster analyses based on perceived supervisor authenticity and insecure attachment strategies identified four clusters each for novice and experienced supervisees. Third, significant differences were found in the overall supervisory working alliance and its subscales across clusters. For novice supervisees, the overall supervisory working alliance was highest in the ‘Stable Collaborative Type’, followed by the ‘Defensive Distrust Type’, the ‘Cautious Distance-Regulating Type’, and the ‘Sensitive Collaborative Type’. For experienced supervisees, it was highest in the ‘Mutual-Trust Collaborative Type’, followed by the ‘Evaluation-Sensitive Type’, the ‘Distance-Regulating Type’, and the ‘Defensive Distrust Type’. Overall, this study provides a more in-depth and multi-faceted understanding of the supervisory working alliance by comprehensively examining how insecure attachment strategies and perceived supervisor authenticity interact to influence the overall alliance and its subcomponents.
