The meaning of ‘YOU(有)’ and ‘WU(無)’ literally means existence and non-existence. In 《LAOZI(老子)》 chapter 1, the meaning of ‘WU(無)’ as the beginning of heaven and earth is the empty state of nothing before the creation of heaven and earth, the meaning of ‘YOU(有)’ as the mother of all things is because everything is created and viewed with the eyes. ‘WU(無)’ is filled with invisible gas (精 or 气), always exercising. Everything is created by exercising, and all things are observed in our view through the coalescence of these gases. This is ‘YOU(有)’. In other words, ‘YOU(有)’ is ‘WU(無)’, and ‘WU(無)’ is ‘DAO(道)’. In 《LAOZI(老子)》, there are not many kinds of ‘YOU(有)’ and ‘WU(無)’, there is a kind, existence and non-existence. It is the same and the name is only different (同出而異名).
