Dance has played a social important role in forming mankind’s culture. Thanks to its long history and culture, traditional dance naturally reveals society’s internal sentiment and aesthetic sense. Therefore, this study analyzes aesthetic sense of Han Yeong Suk’s Buddhist dance, one of the most well-known Korean traditional dances, and presents its educational value. The scope of this study is limited to Han Yeong Suk’s Buddhist dance and is based on existing academic journals. In short, this study discovered following conclusions. First, Han Yeong Suk’s Buddhist dance is Korean traditional dance with its historical value. Second, Han Yeong Suk’s Buddhist dance contains Orient’s three elements and golden mean.Third, Han Yeong Suk’s Buddhist dance expresses artistically Koreans’ deepest sorrow with self improvement and self reflection. Fourth, Han Yeong Suk’s Buddhist dance features simpleness, elegance and class which are key characteristics of Korean traditional dance. Fifth, among existing Buddhist dances, Han Yeong Suk’s Buddhist dance is rich in musical rhythm and choreography. Therefore, the meaning of this study is to provide the foundation to study unique aesthetic sense and philosophical meaning of Han Yeong Suk’s Buddhist dance and place Korean traditional dance in the world as the excellent cultural asset.
