A Case Study of Social Education Program in the Field of Upcycling Design in Korea

The purpose of this study is to provide basic data for social education program strategies by analyzing social education programs currently provided by public institutions in the field of upcycling design by type after examining the definition of social education programs through theoretical consideration. The results of analyzing social education programs in the field of upcycling design by type are as follows. First, a total of 173 educational programs were conducted at 7 public educational institutions in the upcycling design field, and the number and total ratio of educational programs by educational location were in the order of offline within the institution, online, and offline outside the institution. Second, in the case of social education programs conducted in offline within the institution, it is composed of the type of "expression" that conducts art practice, and the type of "integration" of experience classes, and there were educational programs through institutional schools such as regular and special courses and academies. In addition, there were exhibition guides of the type of "appreciation", and there were types of "theory" such as lectures, and symposiums, and "special events" such as vacation camps. Third, in the case of offline outside the institution, there are types of "school connection" and "exploration", and online, there is a program to designing objects with reusable materials corresponding to the "education program" type, and to improve understanding and awareness of upcycling.
