초록

Recently, Korean novel scholars are studing about the social value of novels at this society. This studies are the literature response which some scholars look for the answer of human-society's ethics. Novel is asked for a good effect to society. At this point, Dogani is regarded as the proper and important novel in the literature role of social ethics. But there is few academic study of Dogani yet. It is necessary to study of Dogani academically. According to Paul Ricoeur's hermeneutic, Novel's value depends on making the meaning by communication between writer and reader. The communication is based on social and culture situation. A writer write about the social issue by literature form. Novel's value is gain by reader's reading. Kong Ji-Young said that she wrote this novel after reading the article of sexual affair at high school of hearing impairment. She was focus on the disclose of well-entrenched privileged groups's crimes and immoral conduct. The reader also raged at this story with reading. Above all, Dogani gave the time to writer and reader, who had the introspection about self and society. But the weakness of Dogani is the simplification of characters and plot because of strong morality of writer. Nevertheless Dogani is the effective novel of the good communication writer and reader for thinking and suggestion of society's moral. (Sookmyung Women's University)
