This p aper a nalyzes the relationship b etween t he U S TBT notification and F TA utilization of the top items exported to the United States, through linkage of the HS code of Korean export good and the US TBT notification, after linking the US WTO TBT notifications from the entry into force of the KORUS FTA to the present with classifiable HS code. It is shown that the larger the FTA preference effect on the top export items, the more the TBT regulation is applied, through the correlation analysis between Korea-US FTA data and WTO TBT notification data. In addition, it was also confirmed that the utilization rate of FTA is low as the TBT regulation is cumulatively applied in various ministries through the case analysis of TBT notification. This paper contributes to showing that the trade liberalization effects can be offset as more technical regulations are applied to the items with greater market opening effect.
