Objectives: The purpose of this study is to investigate the mediating effect of self-esteembetween respecting children’s rights in a community child center and children’s rightsconsciousness. Methods: The 2nd wave of the Community Child Center Panel (3rd stage) were used foranalysis. Structural equation modeling analysis was conducted using the children's experienceof being respected in the community child center, and children’s rights consciousness andself-esteem. A bootstrapping method was utilized to examine the mediating effects. Results: First, we found that respecting children’s rights in the community child center hada direct effect on self-esteem. Second, we showed that self-esteem had a positive effect onchildren's rights consciousness. Third, the respect for rights in local child centers directlyeffects children's rights consciousness, and at the same time, it is a partial mediating modelthat is influenced by mediating self-esteem. Conclusions: The results of this study imply that children’s rights education is importantto raise children's rights consciousness in community child centers, and it is important torespect children's rights in the process of actually using community child centers. In addition,the self-esteem of children who use community child centers is an important factor influencingthe children’s rights consciousness, and efforts to increase the self-esteem of children arenecessary
