초록

The purpose of this article is to analyze the development process of venture policies in Japan and to draw implications for the venture policies of the Korean government. This article uses the analytical framework of venture ecology and focuses on which part of the ecology the Japanese government supported on each stage of the development process. As the result, we find that the Japanese government has supported for the venture capital section in 1970s, the exit market in 1980s, venture businesses themselves in 1990s, and the innovation ecology in 2000s. From the analysis we draw the following implications for the venture policy of the Korean government. First, the government needs to prepare a long-term plan for the venture ecology especially for the coming decade. Second, the government needs to utilize venture businesses as tools for regional innovation.
