초록
Guhwangchwalyo is a representative famine relief books first compiled in 1544 (the 9th year of King Myeongjong’s Regin) in Korean vernacular, and it was widely used in the 17th century. This study utilises historical sources and woodblock list to identify the publication of the Guhwangchwalyo and to survey extant editions. This study comparatively examined editions published before 1910 to identify their unique characteristics, and constructed a stemma to illustrate the transmission and relationships among the editions. The results indicate that all surviving editions of Guhwangchwalyo are woodblock editions. Since its initial publication in 1554, the text was incorporated into Guhwangbyeogonbang in 1639. It was subsequently included in 2 titles of Suminbang (1654), 4 titles of Singan-Guhwangchwalyo (1660), and one Taeinbanggakbon of Singan-Guhwangchwalyo (1806), all in the form of combined editions. Additionally, previously overlooked editions were newly identified, including Suminbang held at the Yeongcheon Museum of History and Singan-Guhwangchwalyo editions preserved at Sogang University, Kyungpook National University, the National Hangeul Museum, Korea University, and the National Debt Redemption Movement Memorial Library.
