초록
This study examines the effects of positive and adverse childhood experiences on young adultsʼ romantic relationship competence, with particular attention to the mediating roles of self-esteem and loneliness. The sample consisted of 500 young adults aged 19-34 who had experienced at least one adverse childhood experience. Participants were selected using nonprobability quota sampling based on gender and age, and data were collected through an online panel survey. Data were analyzed using regression analysis and PROCESS Macro Model 4 in SPSS, with bootstrapping applied to test the significance of the indirect effects. The findings showed that adverse childhood experiences had no significant direct effect on romantic relationship competence but exerted a significant negative indirect effect through loneliness. Positive childhood experiences likewise showed no direct effect; however, they significantly enhanced romantic relationship competence by increasing self-esteem and reducing loneliness. These findings emphasize the importance of indirect pathways linking childhood experiences to relational outcomes in young adulthood and point to the role of psychological and social processes from a life-course perspective.
