dc.description.abstractDue to the climate change in this century around the globe, various problems like global warming, and abrupt change in climate variables have occurred. Especially, extreme weather and climate events above or below a threshold value near the upper or lower ends of the range of observed values of variable have increased rapidly. These extreme climate events have caused problems such as temperature rise, precipitation,glacial retreats and elevation of sea level rise and have brought a great economic losses and indirect effects on ecosystem services. Intergovernmental solution to the disasters due to the climate extremes has been pursued for adaptation and risk management. The review and evaluation on the current status of our scientific research and suggestions are discussed for the future development of climate observation science.-
