공학전문가 목표인식검사 개발 및 타당화

Abstract

목표는 한 분야에서 지속적으로 전문성을 성장시키는 주요한 심리적 원동력으로 작용한다. 본 연구에서는 국가경쟁력을 결정하는 주요 학문 분야 중 하나인 공학을 중심으로 이 분야 전문가의 다양한 목표 특성을 측정하는 “공학전문가 목표인식검사”를 개발하였다. 연구 참여자는 공학 분야에 종사하고 있는 공학전문가 90명, 공학전문가로서의 목표를 가지고 학업에 전념하고 있는 공과대학생 156명을 포함한 총 246명이었다. 연구 결과, 본 검사에 포함된 네 가지 목표인식 특성인 목표 자율성, 목표 몰입, 목표 성취가능성, 그리고 목표의 내재적 가치를 측정하는 문항들은 적절한 문항내적일관성과 요인 적합도를 보이는 것으로 확인되었다. 준거타당도를 확인한 결과, 전문가로서의 목표인식과 관련성이 있을 것이라고 가정한 삶의 의미, 직업목표, 그리고 진로 확신과도 모두 유의한 정적 상관을 보였다. 또한 전문가로서의 목표인식은 개인의 전문성이 발달함에 따라 증가하는 것으로 나타났다. 추가적으로, 전문가의 목표인식 수준에 영향을 미치는 개인적, 사회적 요인을 선정하여 목표인식과의 관련성을 살펴본 결과, 이들 요인들은 전문가로서의 목표인식과 유의미한 정적 상관을 갖는 것으로 확인되었다. 이러한 연구 결과는 본 연구를 통해 개발된 공학전문가 목표인식검사가 신뢰롭고 타당하다는 것을 보여준다. 마지막으로, 영역 특수적 목표검사로서 이 연구에서 개발한 공학전문가 목표인식검사의 의의와 이 검사를 활용하여 향후 어떤 후속 연구를 수행할 필요가 있는지에 관해 논의하였다.

Goal functions as a major psychological motive to continue growing one's expertise in a professional field. The purpose of this study was to develop and verify the validity and reliability of the goal questionnaire for engineering experts. The questionnaire measures diverse goal characteristics (i.e., goal autonomy, goal commitment, goal attainability and intrinsic value of goal) and factors affecting the goal perception. To validate the questionnaire, 246 participants (90 experts in professional engineering fields and 154 undergraduate students who have career goals as becoming a future engineering expert) were sampled. The results confirmed internal reliability and validity of the Goal Questionnaire for Engineering Experts. The questionnaire showed good criterion-related validity with three criterion measures of meaning in life, career goal, and career decision-making. In addition, the level of goal perceptions of experts increased along with the development of expertise. Also, diverse personal and social factors included in the questionnaire showed high positive correlations with the goal perceptions measured by the questionnaire. These results indicated that the Goal Questionnaire for Engineering Expert be a reliable and valid instrument for measuring the goal perceptions of engineering experts and personal and social factors affecting the perceptions. In sum, we discussed the importance of the questionnaire as one of the domain specific questionnaires and the future directions of studies using the questionnaire.
