dc.description.abstract | Among the numerous personal images created in “San Yan” and “Er Pai”, the images of matchmaker is a special group of important position. With a long time of development, the matchmaker tradition was still the necessary way for people to establish marriage relationship even in the late Ming dynasty reflected by “San Yan” and “Er Pai”. Therefore, the matchmaker tradition was of important influence on social daily life. As the reflection of the social life, the images of matchmaker created by the story-tellers scripts “San Yan” and “Er Pai” includes several types. Among them, there are matchmakers who bring together marriage or private passion for making money, the common people who played the role of the matchmaker to promote the marriage for their kinship or friends, the servant girls who transfer love letters and give suggestions for the ladies that dare to break through the feudal ethics to establish free marriage, and even the villains and rogues who rob property or abduct women through cheating marriage. The research of this article aimed to analysis the social implication in that time constituted by the social values and moral tendency revealed by the behavior motivation of the different matchmakers in “San Yan” and “Er Pai”. | - |
