생태공동체적 실천: ‘지역’의 가능성과 의미

Abstract

이 연구는 지역 중심의 생태공동체적 실천을 이해하기 위하여 심층생태학과 사회생태학의 논쟁을 중심으로 생태학의 문제의식을 검토하고, 이를 구체적인 삶의 현장에서 실천해 온 서울 성미산마을의 형성과 발전과정,원주의 생활협동조합 운동과 생명사상을 살펴보았다. 생태학은 환경문제가 자연환경 파괴만이 아니라 인간의 삶이 영위되는 생태계 전체를 위협하고 있다는 문제의식에서 근대 과학기술에 대한 기대와 인간중심적 세계관에 대한 성찰, 생태적 다양성의 윤리에 기초한 대안적 가치관과 생활양식의 실천, 협동과 나눔의 공동체적 관계를 제시하고 있다. 특히 삶의 터전을 공유하는 지역은 인간과 자연의 관계를 새롭게 만들어갈 가능성의 장소로 주목받고있다. 성미산마을과 원주의 생태공동체운동은 각 지역의 특수한 조건 에서 지속가능한 생태계 순환을 위한 인간과자연의 공존의 길을 모색해 왔고, 이를 위한 주민들의 자발적인 참여와 협력을 위해 노력해 온 대표적 사례로서 다양한 생태공동체적 실천에 시사점을 제공할 수 있을 것이다.

The purpose of this study is to explain, interpret the practice of ecological community movements through reviewing ecological thoughts, arguments of deep ecology and social ecology. In the first place, I reviewed their philosophies, principles and practice strategies and then, drew a few implications. Secondly, Two cases, the formation of ‘Sungmisan village’ and life movement of ‘Wonju’ were selected and examined as the remarkable practices of the ecological communities in Korea. These have attempted to practice ecological relationship of coexistence in a way of life. In the conclusion, I discussed the important meanings and implication of these ecological community movements.
